Super Easy Boxy T-Shirt DIY

Boxy t-shirts have been cropping up (*pun intended*) everywhere recently. I’ve personally always been a t-shirt person and over the years I’ve become extremely really picky. One of my biggest t-shirt pet-peeves is traditional women’s t-shirts. I cannot stand my t-shirt to taper in at the waist give me sweat patches 30 seconds after putting them on and it baffles me that this is still the way most women’s basic t-shirts are designed.

Years ago I started to DIY my own t-shirts and today I’ll share my super easy method so you can DIY the perfect t-shirt too.

Disclaimer: I am not a professional sewer, this is just a super-easy way that I’ve made my t-shirts work for me.

What you’ll need,

  • A 100% cotton men’s t-shirt, size small or the largest boys shirt you can find
  • A pair of scissors
  • Thread that matches your shirt
  • A sewing machine or a needle

The sewing machine is optional, I only recently got a sewing machine so all of my previous t-shirt DIYs were done without.

The t-shirt I’m going to be using a size small men’s, Uniqlo one. You can find hundreds of t-shirts at any thrift store so choose one that’s 100% cotton, feels comfortable, and that you like the design. I’ve also had success with large boys t-shirts, if you want a smaller fit but still boxy, go for a teenage boys tee.
